Embry-General Ltd (EG)

 

EG (formerly SISSA UK LTD) and its predecessors date back to 1975.  It is now the mother ship of the Embry-General Companies and Associates.  It's long history in Computer Aided Production and Distribution Management Systems such as MRP-II, ERM and Supply Chain Management  has blended into using computers, not just to manage but actually to design, develop, produce and distribute products and deliver services.  The latest phase of this evolution is typified by these four projects:

  • The Satama Project.  Here, EG  designed, procured and build an integrated hardware and software infrastructure for Satama UK Limited's new  web site design operation in the UK.  In less than four months the company was grown from one to 22 employees, on a green field site, each employee equipped with a powerful graphics design workstation connected to a 100MBS Ethernet LAN and to the outside world, via Firstserv, our high speed ISP Associate, through a 10 ISDN  line non-PBX private exchange, plus a 384kbs video conferencing system.  Satama was provided with  dual "non-stop" IBM NetFinity servers flanking a RAID disc array.  This arrangement provides huge capacity, blazing speed and no single point of failure on a 24/7 duty cycle.  The infrastructure is capable of supporting further expansion of up to 300% by simply adding a new workstation for each new employee coming aboard.

  • Michelson, Morley & Maxwell Ltd - this startup joins the Group as a pilot for publishing on the Internet.  It will begin with the novels of Shirley van Eyssen, some 35  literary gems and best sellers, most of which have been published in hardback and/or paperback and illustrated by famous artists.  The entire business will be embedded in the domain "e-books2u.com" which will:

    1. display the catalogue of publications available, with samples of their contents

    2. download the titles ordered requested, along with

    3. a program to display or print them off line and

    4. collect the license fee

  • City Inc.Com Ltd - another startup, is based on a hierarchy  of domains: city-inc.com at the top, sponsoring  regional domains, eg:

  1. e-california-inc.com

  2. 1st-e-china-inc.com, and

  3. 1st-e-pacific-inc.com

and city-inc.com domains such as

  1. san-francisco-inc.com

  2. tokyo-inc.com

  3. london-inc.com, and

  4. new-york-inc.com

Each city-inc.com domain will be developed into  the portal of preference (home page) for people who reside or work in the city or region or are planning to visit. Regional domains will also coordinate intercourse and trade within the region,  whereas city-inc.com proper will concentrate on interregional matters and the launch of new regional and city sites.

  • international e-trade institute - a new force in international e-trade, designed to make it as easy to trade with partners in other countries as with those in your own.  

EG provides consulting, office services and infrastructure support to its Associates and assists them in start-up and handling major milestones in their growth and development, as needed.
